General

What does concrete cost per square foot?

It depends on finish, thickness, access and demo. As a rough guide: [[CONFIRM: cost per sq ft ranges for broom, stamped and pavers]]. We give a written, fixed price after the site visit.

How long before I can drive on new concrete?

Wait about 7 days for cars and longer for heavy trucks. You can walk on it after a day or two. Concrete reaches its design strength around 28 days.

Do I need a permit?

Plain flatwork on your own lot often doesn't. Driveway approaches in the public right of way, ADU and addition foundations, taller retaining walls and anything with gas or electric usually do. We check with your city before we price the job.

Stamped concrete or pavers?

Stamped concrete is one slab with a pressed pattern and usually costs less per square foot. Pavers cost more but each unit can be lifted and reset if the ground moves or you need to run a line under it.

How do you prevent cracking?

Concrete shrinks as it cures, so we control where it cracks: a compacted base, the right thickness, rebar on chairs, and control joints every 8 to 10 feet. Proper curing in hot or windy weather matters too.

When is the best time of year to pour?

We pour year-round. In summer heat and Santa Ana winds we pour early and keep the slab moist so it doesn't dry too fast. In rare rain we reschedule.

How should I care for new concrete?

Keep it damp for the first few days if we ask you to, keep vehicles off for about a week, avoid de-icing salts and harsh cleaners, and reseal decorative concrete every 2 to 3 years.
