Choose your finish
Pick the surface before you pick the price
Every finish starts as the same slab. What changes is how it looks, how much care it needs, and what it costs per square foot.

Broom finish
- Look
- Fine brushed texture, plain gray or integral color.
- Upkeep
- Reseal every 2 to 3 years if you want it to stay stain resistant.
- Relative cost
- Lowest per square foot.

Stamped
- Look
- Pressed patterns like slate, ashlar stone, cobble or wood plank, with release color.
- Upkeep
- Reseal every 2 to 3 years to keep the color and protect the texture.
- Relative cost
- Mid to high, depends on pattern and colors.
[[CONFIRM: client photo of exposed aggregate]]
Exposed aggregate
- Look
- Top paste washed off to show the stone underneath. Grippy and hides dirt.
- Upkeep
- Seal after cure; occasional rinse. Good around pools.
- Relative cost
- Mid, a step above broom finish.

Stained or colored
- Look
- Color mixed into the concrete or stained into the surface after it cures.
- Upkeep
- Sealer keeps the color even; UV and pool water wear it over time.
- Relative cost
- Low to mid on top of the base slab.

Pavers
- Look
- Individual units on a compacted base. Many shapes and blends.
- Upkeep
- Re-sand joints and reseal every few years; single units can be lifted and reset.
- Relative cost
- Mid to high, more labor per square foot.

What does concrete cost per square foot?
It depends on finish, thickness, access and demo. As a rough guide: [[CONFIRM: cost per sq ft ranges for broom, stamped and pavers]]. We give a written, fixed price after the site visit.
How long before I can drive on new concrete?
Wait about 7 days for cars and longer for heavy trucks. You can walk on it after a day or two. Concrete reaches its design strength around 28 days.
Do I need a permit?
Plain flatwork on your own lot often doesn't. Driveway approaches in the public right of way, ADU and addition foundations, taller retaining walls and anything with gas or electric usually do. We check with your city before we price the job.
Stamped concrete or pavers?
Stamped concrete is one slab with a pressed pattern and usually costs less per square foot. Pavers cost more but each unit can be lifted and reset if the ground moves or you need to run a line under it.
How do you prevent cracking?
Concrete shrinks as it cures, so we control where it cracks: a compacted base, the right thickness, rebar on chairs, and control joints every 8 to 10 feet. Proper curing in hot or windy weather matters too.
